The Savica Waterfall was made famous by France Preseren’s poem, ”The Baptism at the Savica.” Its misty spray creates a mystical atmosphere for the short but scenic hike leading up to the 78-meter-high cascade, bursting forth in a dual stream and pooling below. Visitors should prepare for the 20-minute hike with sturdy shoes and plenty of water, as there are over 500 stone steps to climb. As the falls are at the far end of Lake Bohinj, they offer a greater sense of remoteness and natural splendor. The falls can become inaccessible in the winter months.
