Casablanca is approximately 56 miles (90 km) south of Rabat along Morocco's Atlantic coast. The drive takes around 1 hour each way via the A3 motorway under normal conditions. The route follows the coastline and provides a comfortable, straightforward journey between Morocco's political capital and its economic hub.
Casablanca is generally safe for visitors who take standard travel precautions. Busy areas like the Corniche and Old Medina can attract petty theft, so keeping valuables secure is advisable. Street-side cafes serving mint tea and msemen (Moroccan flatbread) are found throughout the city and offer an affordable, authentic local experience.
Casablanca has a mild coastal climate year-round. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the most comfortable seasons, with warm and pleasant conditions. Summer is warm but can be breezy along the coast. Winter is mild compared to much of Europe, though evenings can be cool. The city's Atlantic setting moderates temperatures across all seasons.
