Torcello

Torcello was where Venice began before Venetians decided to settle around Rialto. It's a semi-deserted island that you can visit, which is found across the water from Burano. Although Torcello used to be a thriving port, it is now only visited for its famous Locando Ciprianii restaurant and the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta. After enjoying a tasty meal at the restaurant, you can tour the 7th-century Basilica and admire the dramatic mosaic work on its walls.

Museo del Vetro

It might not sound like an entertaining way to spend your time, but we promise visiting the Museo del Vetro, otherwise known as the Museum of Glass, is one of the best places to visit in Venice. This museum not only tells the history of glassmaking, highlighting its Middle Eastern origins and influence on Roman and medieval Venetian trade but also shows examples of some of the best glasswork ever created, from elaborate Renaissance tableware to pre-Roman vases.

However, if you want to enjoy warm weather, visiting Venice from late spring to early summer is best. The crowds might be larger and the prices higher, but it's nowhere close to the summer masses.
