Maybe you rushed to Ronda first thing in the morning, but on the way back you’d like to see the “white towns” of Olvera and Setenil de las Bodegas. Daytrip makes it easy to take your trip to the next level with these local experiences.

About Seville

Seville captivates 3 million visitors annually with its warm Mediterranean climate and festive atmosphere. As the capital of Andalusia, Seville has a blend of Moorish, Gothic, and Renaissance influences only found in this part of the world.

Seville through the ages

Seville was founded as the Roman city of Hispalis and it became an important port and commercial center under Roman rule. With the decline of the Roman Empire, Seville was conquered by various civilizations, including the Visigoths and the Moors.

During the Moorish rule from the 8th to the 13th century, Seville flourished as a major cultural and economic hub in Al-Andalus. It was during this period that Seville bloomed and famous landmarks like the Alcázar Palace were constructed. To find elements of Islamic architecture in buildings from this period, look for geometric mosaic designs, domes, and muqarnas vaulting on the ceilings.

In the late 15th century, Seville played a significant role in the Age of Discovery as the gateway to the New World. It became a busy port city, despite its distance from the sea, benefiting greatly from the colonization of the Americas. Seville is still the only river port in Spain.

The Pearl of Andalusia

Today, Seville's charming neighborhoods are lined with 48,000 orange trees thanks to their introduction by Genovese merchants in the 10th century. Seville is also known for its Flamenco scene, with many tablaos (Flamenco venues) where you can experience the passion and intensity of this traditional Spanish art form. What are you waiting for? Let’s get you to Seville!

From Ronda to Seville: travel tips

It’s your vacation, so let’s help you get the most out of it. Elevate your road trip from Ronda to Seville with these travel tips!

Take your time

In Spain, the smaller towns are where the magic happens. If you rushed in the morning to get to Ronda, the route back to Seville is a good time to add the detour you wanted to see on the way there.

Bring a battery pack for your phone

Nowadays, your phone is also your camera, map, entrance tickets, translator, and personal assistant. A battery pack and charging cord are essentials for day trips to keep your phone charged and ready to use. For even more battery savings, turn off your Bluetooth and data when not in use.

How to get from Ronda to Seville

Ronda is a small town, so the transit options are limited. Pick the most convenient transportation from these three options for traveling from Ronda to Seville, and for the best price and the most options, book your spot ahead of time!

Ronda to Seville by private driver with Daytrip

Hiring a private driver is the fastest and most convenient way to get from Ronda to Seville and eliminates the need to worry about a rental car and driving in a foreign country.

Your driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Ronda and take you to all the local experiences you’d like to enhance your trip with, like the cave houses in Setenil de las Bodegas.

If you are trying to catch a flight out of the Seville Airport (SVQ), a private driver can get you to Seville in less than two hours. And you'll definitely appreciate the help with your luggage!

Ronda to Seville by train

There aren't any direct trains from Ronda to Seville. Renfe operates trains that require a transfer in Santa Ana, but still get you to Seville in about 3.5 hours. Tickets start at $330 (29 EUR) if you book far enough ahead of your trip. Just be sure to check the timetable for the last train back (around 6:30 PM).

Ronda to Seville by bus

Avanzabus and Damas operate direct buses from Ronda to Seville for $9-21 (8-20 EUR) per passenger. Expect the trip to take 2-3 hours. One caveat: you're only allowed one bag per person. Extra luggage has to be purchased in addition to your ticket.

Things to do when you get to Seville

Once you’re back from your Ronda rendezvous, enjoy the rest of your trip with these activities! With such a short drive from Ronda to Seville, you’ll make it back in time for a dinner of tapas and sangria!

Visit the Royal Alcazar of Seville

Getting older doesn’t always mean you stop working. Did you know the Royal Alcazar of Seville is the oldest palace in Europe still in use? It was also the backdrop for seasons 5 and 7 of Game of Thrones. This UNESCO World Heritage Site isn’t slowing down anytime soon, so come visit for guided tours and live reenactments of Seville’s historical events.

Visit the Seville Cathedral Complex

Seville really has it all, so after the Alcazar, come see the largest Gothic cathedral in the world! The Cathedral of Seville was originally a mosque but was repurposed, rebuilt, and redesigned into one of the country's finest Gothic cathedrals. Its history and intricate detailing have earned it recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The entrance fee includes access to the cathedral, Giralda Tower, and other sites, so make sure you leave enough time in your itinerary to see everything. From the top of Giralda Tower, get bird’s-eye-view panoramic photos of Seville from 340 ft (104 m) off the ground!

See (and dance!) Flamenco in Seville

Experience the passion and intensity of Flamenco at a local tablao. Seville is known to dance lovers for its vibrant Flamenco scene, so take the chance to experience it in its birthplace- or even take a class with a partner!

Cruise down the Guadalquivir River

See the lights of Seville at night from the deck of a romantic dinner-and-drinks cruise on the Guadalquivir River! But once your cruise is over, the good vibes don’t have to end. Visit an outdoor patio on the river and enjoy the atmosphere of the promenade as couples and families stroll by on warm evenings.

When is the best time to visit Seville

The best time to visit Seville is generally during the shoulder seasons of spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these seasons, you can expect mild temperatures ranging from 64° to 82° F (18° to 28° C). Spring in Seville is particularly beautiful, with the city's 48,000 orange trees in bloom.

In the summer months, the temperature can get above 95° F (35° C), and with no beaches or sea breeze, it's as hot as it sounds. Many locals use this time to escape to the coast, but the best advice if you visit in the summer is to have a siesta during the hottest part of the day like the locals.
