A high level of fitness is required for hiking to beaches and archaeological sites. Trails can be muddy and steep. Beach access involves 45-minute walks. Heat and humidity add to physical demands.
The park is generally safe, but ocean currents can be dangerous at some beaches. Follow park guidelines, swim only at designated areas, and never leave belongings unattended on beaches. Wildlife requires respectful distance.

December-April offers the driest weather with calmer seas perfect for swimming. Avoid September-November during heavy rains. May-August can be windy but still enjoyable for hiking and nature viewing.
