Punta de Mita and Punta Mita are the same place! Don’t get confused if a bus ticket or GPS tells you one name or the other---you are indeed going to the right place.
Jetlag and a long day of travel are sure to exhaust you, so take one thing off your list of things to do now. Book your transportation service to Punta Mita right after you book your accommodation to ensure a smooth transfer from the PVR airport.
The limited number of transportation options means it's pretty easy to figure out how to get from Puerto Vallarta Airport to Punta Mita. Your choices boil down to a private car, a shared shuttle, or a public bus.
Daytrip offers shared shuttle buses for a cost-effective but safe and reliable option. These shuttle buses have designated pick-up and drop-off points and leave on a set schedule. Punta Mita offers a variety of water sports to do in the warm, tropical waters of the Bahia de Banderas (Bay of Flags). The area's clear waters and diverse marine life provide excellent opportunities for both beginners and experts to explore the underwater world with snorkeling and diving excursions. From December to March, you can even see humpback whales as they migrate to the bay.
Go a bit further out and charter a boat to nearby islands for fishing excursions and sunset cruises to discover secluded beaches, snorkeling spots, and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.
The Marietas Islands are only about a 15-minute boat ride from Punta Mita. You might have seen photos of Playa del Amor, the "hidden beach" in a crater, on Instagram, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. The island and surrounding waters are a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve teaming with life. From blue-footed boobies to humpback whales, dolphins, and manta rays, a boat tour is basically a tropical safari.
While renowned for its natural surroundings, you might be surprised to learn Punta Mita has several world-class golf courses, like the Pacifico and Bahia courses, designed by the professional golfer Jack Nicklaus. The best time to visit Punta Mita, and Mexico in general, is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. After your flight, you’ll find the drive from Puerto Vallarta Airport to Punta Mita to be smooth during this time of year, with favorable weather conditions for traveling.
The dry season in Mexico offers pleasant temperatures, clear skies, and ideal conditions for outdoor activities, water sports, and beach relaxation. Expect plenty of sun, temperatures from 65 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit (18-30 degrees Celsius), and very little rain.

“Gonzalo from daytrip was our driver and he was absolutely amazing. He went over and beyond trying to locate us as our service wasn't so good on our phones. He patiently awaited our arrival to the lobby so he could take us from Tulum Dreams Resort to our other hotel in cancun an hour and a half away near the airport prior to our departure flight home. He was polite, respectful and kind. Made sure we were comfortable during our long ride. Fast and to the point. I recommend this company as finding a one way ride from Tulum to Cancun isn't easy or cheap and this company provides a great service for a great price.
