The 115 miles (187 km) from Geneva to Courchevel are the only thing standing between you and your world-class resort vacation, so let’s get started! Geneva sits in a Swiss basin hugging the border of the Alps and France, and it won’t take long to reach the French border.
Once you’re in France, the terrain will gradually become more mountainous as you travel south into the heart of the western Alps. The dense forests and untouched mountain ranges are kept in their natural condition thanks to their isolation, as well as wildlife reserves, such as the _Parc naturel régional du massif des Bauges. _This national park is located just south of Annecy, a popular stop for lunch and a walk. It is the "Venice of the Alps," with canals and stunning lakeside views.
The difficult terrain of the Alps also helped keep many villages frozen in time against foreign invaders, such as the Medieval City of Conflans (_Cite Medievale de Conflans). _Typical Medieval life comes to life on its narrow streets.
The final stretch for this road trip is a winding mountain road that climbs through dense pine forests before opening up to reveal Courchevel. Nestled high in the mountains, this resort will be a welcome sight after your day of travel!
Courchevel is a world-class ski resort located in the Trois Vallees (Three Valleys) region of the French Alps. Unlike most ski resorts that develop naturally out of an existing town, Courchevel was built from the ground up as a ski resort. It was the first of its kind in France when it was constructed in the late 1940s. Today, Courchevel is the premiere Alpine resort for skiing and other winter sports. It has an activity for every skill level and over 370 miles (600 km) of slopes (that’s 5x the distance from Geneva to Courchevel!).
The resort is divided into villages, named for their altitudes:
Courchevel 1850 is at the highest altitude and is the crown jewel of the resort complex. It often attracts international celebrities for its luxury hotels, secluded chalets, and Michelin-starred restaurants. It is the largest of the five villages and has the most amenities, including 24 five-star hotels. The meticulous focus on luxury, privacy for the elite, and convenience keeps guests coming back year after year.
Courchevel is frequently used for winter sports competitions, including the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville and the 2023 Alpine Ski World Championships.
In addition to skiing, Courchevel offers a wide range of winter activities, including snowshoeing and ice skating. Visitors can also enjoy helicopter tours, providing a unique perspective of the stunning Alpine scenery. In the summer, guests can go swimming, horseback riding, and hiking.
Beyond winter sports, Courchevel is known for its vibrant après-ski scene, with sophisticated lounges and exclusive nightclubs.
Whether you're an avid skier or simply looking to indulge in a luxurious mountain retreat, Courchevel offers a blend of outdoor adventure and relaxation that keep it a top-ranking Alpine destination year after year.
Before you head out for your Geneva to Courchevel transfer, keep these handy tips in mind!
All that snow doesn’t just stay on the slopes! The steep and winding roads leading up the mountainside to Courchevel have to be cleared of snow on a daily basis during the height of winter. Let a local driver from Daytrip take the wheel for your Geneva to Courchevel transfer so you can relax while driving.
Courchevel has dozens of sports options for people of all skill levels and ages. If this is your first time on the slopes, take it easy and join a class for beginners. You’ll have an experienced professional guide you through all the steps to safely learn a new skill.
Between the frigid outdoor air and the warmth of the restaurants and attractions along the way, you’ll need to dress in layers to prevent getting sick on your trip!
Although Chambery has the closest airport, if you are visiting from abroad, you likely flew into the Geneva Airport (GVA). To travel from Geneva to Courchevel, you can hire a driver or make multiple transfers by train and bus.
The highways from Geneva to Moutiers are well-maintained and fairly smooth, but once you ascend up the mountain, the roads become more challenging. On the roads between Moutiers and Courchevel, the snow must be cleared daily (a small price to pay for some of the best skiing in the world!).
For your comfort and safety, we recommend hiring a local Daytrip driver for your trip. They have experience driving in snowy conditions and insider knowledge about the best detours in case of road closures or traffic. Your driver will pick you up from your address in Geneva and take you across the Alps to Courchevel. You can even be picked up from the airport! The driving time is 2 hours and 20 minutes, so visit Annecy to see the canals and have lunch!
This route starts at $70 per seat, so book yours before the busy season!
Using public transportation will require a few transfers, and the trip takes between 3 and 5 hours, depending on the season and weather conditions.
Train lines do not reach all the way to Courchevel due to the high elevation, but the closest train and bus stations are in Moutiers. In order to reach Moutiers by train, you will need to take one of the high-speed trains from Geneva to either Chambery Challes-les-Eaux or Gare d’Aix-les-Bains-Le Revard. From either city, you’ll need to transfer trains. Train tickets cost from $22 to $37 for this entire route.
From Moutiers, you can ride the shuttle bus up the mountain. The ticket costs $12 and includes one carry-on, one piece of luggage, and one pair of skis or a snowboard. Alternatively, you can hire a taxi for $50. The drive up the mountain takes 30 minutes.
You definitely won’t get cabin fever at this Alpine resort! After your transfer from Geneva to Courchevel, dive right into all the fun activities and luxurious experiences available for your vacation.
Courchevel is part of the Trois Vallées, the largest linked ski area in the world. It offers slopes for all levels, from beginners to experts, with stunning views of the Alps. There are even handicapped-friendly skiing options. Here are just some of the winter activities available:

Explore high-end boutiques offering luxury fashion, jewelry, and winter sports gear. The shopping experience in Courchevel is as elegant as the rest of the resort.
If you aren’t afraid of heights, there are so many ways to see the Alps from above! Take a helicopter tour, go paragliding, or ride in a hot air balloon to soar in the skies. If you are feeling particularly brave, you can even skydive from a helicopter!
After a day on the slopes, relax at one of Courchevel’s many luxurious spas. Enjoy massages, saunas, and other wellness treatments in a serene mountain setting. Yoga classes and tennis are also available for the full country club experience.
As the largest ski area in the world, it comes as no surprise that the best time to plan your trip from Geneva to Courchevel is in the winter. The full skiing season in Courchevel runs from early December to late April. The peak travel season is from late December to early March, as this is when the snow is looking its best!
Summers in Courchevel are also fun for the whole family. After the snow has melted, Courchevel becomes a summer paradise with swimming, hiking, horseback riding, biking, and spa facilities. With the beautiful backdrop of the Alps, it’s no wonder guests flock here year-round.

Reasonably Priced and Safe Transportation
“Gonzalo from daytrip was our driver and he was absolutely amazing. He went over and beyond trying to locate us as our service wasn't so good on our phones. He patiently awaited our arrival to the lobby so he could take us from Tulum Dreams Resort to our other hotel in cancun an hour and a half away near the airport prior to our departure flight home. He was polite, respectful and kind. Made sure we were comfortable during our long ride. Fast and to the point. I recommend this company as finding a one way ride from Tulum to Cancun isn't easy or cheap and this company provides a great service for a great price. I will definitely be using them again whenever I'm in the Cancun/Tulum area. Thank you DayTrip and Gonzola.”
“We were picked up by Marianna to drive us from Heraklion to Chania. The weather was terrible & due to this Marianna arrived a few minutes late. She contacted me to advise of this. Marianna lives in Chana and she made our trip very interesting by informing us of local things to do and see in Chania. Marianna is a safe driver and we all felt comfortable with the speed she drove at and how good her driving was in heavy rain. She is a lovely person with fluent English. We highly recommend Daytrips and if you are in Heraklion or Chania please make sure you ask for Marianna.”
“Used the service to go from Luxor to Hurghada, Egypt. Ahmed H was our driver and he was perfect. The car was new, clean, he had water and snacks for us, and accommodated our stops. Great service from him and would recommend it.”
Comfortable and Safe Rides in Mexico
“Used Daytrip for two rides in Mexico, which were both great. So comfortable, and we arrived at each of our destinations at a great time. Both were incredible drivers, and we felt so safe. One of our drivers, Miguel, also played the best music! Will definitely use Daytrip on our next trip to Mexico.”
