Driving to Nafplio from Athens takes around two hours. The most common route is via the A8 and A7 motorways, passing through the Corinth Canal. You can explore at your own pace, and make stops along the way. Be prepared for toll roads along the way. Once you get to Nafplio, you'll find the narrow streets difficult to navigate and parking limited. And, you likely won't be using your car to get around town.
Athens to Nafplio by bus
Getting to Nafplio by bus takes two to two and a half hours. KTEL buses run frequent services from Athens’ Kifissos Bus Station to Nafplio. Check KTEL Argolidas for recent schedules. It is a cost-effective and direct option, without the need for transfers. But it offers less flexibility, and you'll need to get to and from bus stations which adds extra time to your trip.
Athens to Nafplio by train
There is no direct train service from Athens to Nafplio. You can take a train to Corinth and then switch to a bus for the remainder of the journey. You would spend two hours on the train to Corinth, plus additional time for the bus transfer to Nafplio. Keep in mind that it requires a transfer and good timing. In general, it's better to just take the direct bus if you're on a budget.
Athens to Nafplio by private car
