Expect 1 hour to Uppsala, then 30 minutes to Sigtuna. A private driver from Stockholm ensures you experience both the university cathedral city and Sweden's first capital at your own pace.
Uppsala is one of Sweden’s oldest cities, and the thrum of history and culture can be felt walking its lushly decorated, spire-filled streets. Scandinavia’s largest cathedral, the Uppsala Cathedral, carves a striking shape into the city’s skyline and recalls a grand royal past. King Gustav Vasa is buried there and it has been the site of many coronations until the 19th century. Guided walks atop the castle roof are available where you can view the sprawling cityscape of Uppsala from above. The city is also home to Uppsala University, the oldest university in Sweden. The bustling student life makes Uppsala a vibrant cultural center, boasting the past residence of famed Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus. Take a walk through his floral haven at the Linnaean Gardens of Uppsala, perfect for a summertime stroll. Visit the Gustavianum museum, part of the university, to learn more about Swedish history and culture, and sample some fine Swedish cuisine at one of the many renowned restaurants in town.

It’s a small town in Sweden, but Sigtuna is one of the country’s oldest and most charming, founded in 980 AD. Located on the shores of Lake Mälaren, the town has a rich history with its roots dating back to the viking age. Its prime attraction is Stora Garan, the main street that’s persisted since the Middle Ages. Pastel-painted wooden-framed buildings line the streets, with cafes and shops dotting the area. Over 20 runestones are located at the heart of Sigtuna, some of them being over 1000 years old. Retrieve a map from Sigtuna’s Tourism Office to trace the location of the runestone that have been carved into bones, wood, metal and horn. Stop at Sigtuna’s Museum to learn of the city’s fascinating history and visit the city hall, which holds the record for being the smallest one in all of Sweden. This quaint town with capture your heart and imagination with its medieval touches.
