Furore is a small village dramatically perched on the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast, famous for its "fjord" - a deep inlet cutting into the coastline. Located between Amalfi and Positano, this hidden gem offers some of the coast's most spectacular coastal scenery and is often called the "town that doesn't exist."

The journey covers approximately 33 miles (54 kilometers) and takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes via the scenic coastal route. The drive includes the famous winding Amalfi Drive (SS163), offering breathtaking Mediterranean views but requiring careful navigation on narrow mountain roads.

Furore is famous for having no traditional town center - its houses are scattered across dramatic cliffs and connected by ancient paths. The village is renowned for its dramatic bridge spanning the Furore Fjord, colorful murals painted on buildings, and the annual high-diving championship from the bridge.

Unlike coastal towns like Positano or Amalfi, Furore spreads vertically across terraced cliffs with traditional stone houses, vineyards, and lemon groves. The village maintains its authentic character with fewer tourists, traditional fishing culture, and spectacular hiking trails through terraced hillsides.

The SS163 Amalfi Drive features narrow winding roads with numerous hairpin turns, steep drops to the sea, and heavy traffic including large tour buses. The route requires patience and careful driving, but rewards travelers with some of the world's most spectacular coastal scenery.

Furore offers excellent hiking on the Path of the Gods trail, rock climbing on limestone cliffs, kayaking in the fjord's emerald waters, and swimming at the small pebble beach. The area is also perfect for photography, with dramatic coastal views and traditional Mediterranean architecture.

The ideal period is late spring through early fall (May to September) for warm weather and calm seas. April and October offer pleasant temperatures with fewer crowds. Summer provides perfect beach weather but heavy traffic, while spring and fall balance good weather with easier driving conditions.

Furore features excellent restaurants showcasing Amalfi Coast cuisine, including fresh seafood, homemade pasta, and local lemons. The village is famous for its wine production and traditional fishing culture, so be sure to dine out while visiting.
