### From Naples to Positano by train
There is a train along this route, but choosing this option means you sign up for an indirect trip with transfers en route. This option is more time-consuming, with a minimum travel time of 2.5 hours, and the train prices vary from $8 to $16 (âŹ7-âŹ14). Things to do when you get to Positano

For a quieter experience, the more secluded Fornillo Beach is just a short walk away. Both offer sun loungers and umbrellas for hire, alongside beachfront cafes and restaurants where you can indulge in fresh seafood and local wines.
### Hike the Path of the Gods
For a panoramic view of Positano and the coast, hike the Sentiero degli Dei, or âPath of the Godsâ. The trailhead is accessible via local bus, and the hike offers some of the most breathtaking vistas in the region. Ensure you have comfortable shoes, water, and your camera ready for this adventure.
### Take a boat tour
To explore the rugged coastline, discover hidden coves, or even journey to nearby islands such as Capri. These excursions provide a different perspective of Positano and are perfect outings if you want to combine adventure with stunning scenery.
Whenâs the best time to visit Positano?
Before booking your Amalfi Coast adventure to Positano from Naples, you will need to consider the best time of year to pay a visit to this incredible destination. The busiest times for Naplesâ hotels and the Naples Airport are the summer months when southern Italy sees its hottest temperatures and fewest showers. Even if you book your hotel and any transfers in advance, things like restaurants and beach clubs can become overcrowded or booked up at this popular destination.

âI messed up on booking my train from Naples to Lucca. We used Day Trip to book a transfer from Positano, Italy to Naples to catch our train. The driver was on time and drove at a perfect speed for my car sick kids not enjoying the twists and turns. The driver got us to the train station on time. Day Trip was quick to respond to questions.â
âWe used Daytrip to go from Naples to Positano with a stop in Pompeii. Our driver, Alfonso, was an absolute perfect tour guide. He arrived on time, in a new looking van that was clean and in great condition. Alfonso spoke English very well, was friendly and shared his knowledge about the area. Alfonso came prepared for rain so we didnĂąâŹâąt get soaked during our tour of Pompeii. He also suggested a lovely winery for lunch where we had a perfect day trying local cuisine and tasty wine by a local family run farm. We were able to purchase olive oil, vinegar and wine and have it shipped back home in time for Christmas gifts. Positano was great but we were there during a thunderstorm. We were planning to stay as long as possible and wander the streets until 8 pm, but due to the storm, things were closed and the weather made it miserable, so Alfonso was able to arrange picking us up early and taking us out of the storm and into Sorrento to another family run restaurant where we were given a fantastic meal at a very affordable price. We had such a wonderful experience in Naples, Pompeii, Positano and Sorrento because we had an amazing driver who really took care of us! Thank you Alfonso Sorrentino!â

âWe had a private transfer from Naples to Positano and also from Positano to Naples on our trip to Italy. Both of our drivers, Francesco and Alfonzo, were absolutely incredible. However I do have to call our Alfonzo for being over the top accommodating. Our original driver was not able to make it to pick us up in Positano in time for our flight due to a horrible car crash that occurred on the coastal road, blocking traffic for hours. Our original driver worked with Alfonzo who happened to be in the area picking up another couple. He went out of his way to pick us up and a solution was in place before we even knew there was a problem! Alfonzo was the best tour guide through the whole trip and was very knowledgeable and proud of his country which is why we loved him. But his and Daytrips quick thinking and accommodation saved us from a cancelled flight! Thanks so much Alfonzo and team!â

âDaytrip was a fantastic experience that my wife and I enjoyed and I was originally referred to by a friend. The communication with the company was fantastic as they sent me emails for driver change updates, car and license plate info along with a phone number. They email you directions and a picture of the meeting pickup spot at the Napoli Centrale station. We had Mirko the first time and he was very nice and friendly. We had Alfonso the second time and he was phenomenal!! He sang an Italian song in the car, answered our questions on pasta making process (machine vs bronze dies) and why Italians eat their pasta al dente/harder than we do in the US, and other questions too. He was proud of being from Naples area and said they have the best tomatoes in the world because of the fertile soil from the Mount Vesuvius volcano. The trip was a joy full of laughs and information. He also dropped us off at a better, safer pizzeria option in Naples than the one I originally had researched. A great value and takes the stress out of travel. Grazie Mille, Daytrip!â

âIncredibly convenient! We first thought to take a train between cities (Positano to Naples) but when thinking of the taxis, train, etc., a couple recommended to us to use this service to have a driver and it was the BEST decision. The driver was the nicest guy, and the car very comfortable. Highly recommend!!!!!â
âPascale O was our driver. Heâs a Pompeii local and was full of knowledge and advice. He turned up on time and had a comfortable vehicle. We paid 190 euro for 5 people which was reasonable compared to other companies in the area. He picked us up at 9am and we arrived in Naples around 12.30pm after a stop in Pompeii.â
