Southampton to Stonehenge: Private day trip

Stonehenge is strange, impressive, and older than most of history as we know it.

Start at the visitor center, where you’ll see how the stones were moved, placed, and studied. The exhibits give a good overview without being too heavy. Then take the shuttle (or walk, if it’s nice out) to the stones themselves. The path circles the monument so you can take it all in slowly. With the audio guide, you’ll hear the theories, from burial ground to solar calendar. You’ll also see reconstructed Neolithic houses and the wide, open land around the site. It’s quiet, even with other people around. The kind of quiet that feels old.
