Yes! Book a private, door-to-door airport transfer with a local English-speaking driver. Enjoy fixed and transparent pricing, no hidden fees, and the option to pay in advance without the hassle of exchanging cash at a foreign airport.
You will receive the vehicle that best fits the number of travelers in your group, ranging from a sedan to a van for groups of up to 7. Depending where you travel, you can book anything from a sedan comparable to a Toyota Corolla to a Mercedes V-Class to a Classic Cuban Car. While the exact model may vary, we always ensure that the vehicle provided meets your needs in terms of safety, reliability, and comfort. You may be upgraded to a larger vehicle class free of charge depending on availability. Since our largest vehicle seats 7, for groups larger a combination of vehicles will be used. We will send you the exact vehicle details a few days before your trip.
Everywhere except the USA, drivers will supply appropriate child seats (just let us know during booking). In the USA, certain states require you to supply your own child seats.
Know more about traveling from San Gil
San Gil sits approximately 98 km (61 miles) from Bucaramanga and around 320 km (199 miles) from Bogota. The drive from Bucaramanga takes roughly 1.5 to 2 hours through winding mountain roads. From Bogota, expect around 5 to 6 hours depending on conditions. This makes San Gil a natural day trip or extended stop for travelers already in the Santander region.
A full day is the sweet spot. Plan roughly half your day around one or two adventure activities — a rafting excursion typically runs two to three hours including travel to the put-in — and spend the rest of your time in the historic center. The Plaza Principal and cathedral deserve an unhurried look, and Parque El Gallineral is best enjoyed slowly, with a coffee or meal at one of the riverside spots. Arriving early gives you the most flexibility.
Yes — Barichara is only about 21 km (13 miles) from San Gil and is widely considered one of the most beautiful colonial villages in Colombia. Its cobblestone streets, whitewashed walls, and dramatic canyon views are a striking contrast to San Gil's adventure energy. Pairing the two in a single day is one of the most rewarding itineraries in the Santander region, and a private transfer makes it easy to move between them on your own schedule without relying on local bus connections.
Absolutely. San Gil packs an outsized amount of personality and activity into a compact area. You get Colombia's most famous whitewater rafting on the Rio Fonce, a beautifully preserved colonial square anchored by an 18th-century cathedral, and the enchanting Parque El Gallineral — a riverside park draped in natural moss and filled with cafes where you can decompress after a morning of adventure. It's the kind of place that surprises travelers who didn't plan to love it.
San Gil earned its "Adventureland" nickname honestly. Whitewater rafting on the Fonce and Suarez rivers is the headline act, with rapids ranging from beginner-friendly to genuinely challenging. Beyond that, you can fill a day with paragliding over the canyon, rappelling down waterfalls, caving, bungee jumping, or mountain biking. Most activity operators are centrally located, so you don't lose time getting organized.
The roads into San Gil are scenic but winding, particularly coming from Bucaramanga through the Chicamocha canyon area. Having a reliable driver who knows the route takes the stress out of navigation and lets you focus on the landscape. If you plan to do adventure activities, book them in advance during peak season as popular operators fill up. Comfortable clothing, sunscreen, and a dry bag for water-based activities will cover most of what you need.
