Yes! Book a private, door-to-door airport transfer with a local English-speaking driver. Enjoy fixed and transparent pricing, no hidden fees, and the option to pay in advance without the hassle of exchanging cash at a foreign airport.
You will receive the vehicle that best fits the number of travelers in your group, ranging from a sedan to a van for groups of up to 7. Depending where you travel, you can book anything from a sedan comparable to a Toyota Corolla to a Mercedes V-Class to a Classic Cuban Car. While the exact model may vary, we always ensure that the vehicle provided meets your needs in terms of safety, reliability, and comfort. You may be upgraded to a larger vehicle class free of charge depending on availability. Since our largest vehicle seats 7, for groups larger a combination of vehicles will be used. We will send you the exact vehicle details a few days before your trip.
Everywhere except the USA, drivers will supply appropriate child seats (just let us know during booking). In the USA, certain states require you to supply your own child seats.

Yes, and it is one of the best features of booking with Daytrip. You can add optional stops along the route to discover places you might otherwise drive straight past. The landscape between Helsinki and Lahti passes through classic Finnish countryside, and there are interesting towns and viewpoints worth pausing at. Your driver can offer local knowledge to help you decide what fits your schedule. It is a simple way to turn a transfer into a more memorable part of the trip itself.
With a private transfer, you are picked up directly from your hotel or address in Helsinki and dropped off wherever you want in Lahti — no timetables, no connections, no dragging luggage through train stations. Your driver handles navigation so you can focus on the day ahead. On the return, you leave when you are ready rather than rushing to catch a scheduled departure. For families, groups, or anyone traveling with luggage, this door-to-door flexibility makes the whole experience significantly more comfortable than public transport options.
Lahti is approximately 100 km (62 miles) north of Helsinki. By private transfer, the drive takes around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic and your exact pickup location. That makes it one of the most accessible day trips from the capital — close enough to be stress-free, but far enough to feel like a genuine escape into a different pace of life.
A full day is ideal. Spend the morning exploring the harbor area around Lake Vesijärvi, then head into the city to browse the repurposed industrial buildings now filled with cafes, shops, and restaurants. Factor in at least a couple of hours if you want to visit one of the museums or catch a performance at Sibelius Hall. If nature is your priority, a half-day excursion to Päijänne National Park is well worth building into your itinerary. Arrive early and you can comfortably do both.
Absolutely. Lahti packs a surprising amount of variety into a compact, walkable city. You get waterfront cafes and boutiques along Lake Vesijärvi, world-class architecture at Sibelius Hall, a strong craft beer and local spirits scene, and easy access to Päijänne National Park just outside the city. Whether you want culture, nature, or simply a relaxed afternoon by the water, Lahti delivers without the crowds of a major capital. It is one of Finland's most underrated cities, and a day trip gives you just enough time to appreciate why it earned the title of European Green Capital in 2021.
The harbor district is a great starting point — scenic lake views, cozy waterfront cafes, and small boutiques all within easy walking distance. The Sibelius Hall is a standout piece of Scandinavian architecture and one of Finland's finest concert venues. The city also has a cluster of museums covering art, design, and more unusual subjects like military medicine. For a taste of Lahti's local identity, try a Lahden Erikois or Teerenpeli beer, or pick up a bottle of Taivaanranta whiskey. Just outside the city, Päijänne National Park — a UNESCO Global Geopark — offers moss forests, sandy beaches, and some of the clearest water you will find anywhere in Finland.
