So, so happy I stumbled upon this website to book two private transports while visiting Lima, Peru. They were both one-way trips approximately 3 hours in length. Great communication as soon as everything was booked via email and I then downloaded their app. I had a few issues with the app and the customer service was awesome trying to assist me in getting it corrected. Honestly impressive customer service which gave you a positive feeling that you made the right choice. Both drivers were right on time - No issues whatsoever! Can't say enough about the service and ease of everything when travelling so far away. Great job to the daytrip team! Would strongly recommend.
Yes β the city's top attractions are compact and concentrated around the waterfront. A well-planned day gives you time for the V&A Dundee, the RRS Discovery, and the HMS Unicorn without feeling rushed. The historic city centre is walkable from the waterfront, so you can take in the broader character of the city between stops. With a private Daytrip transfer, your driver can drop you directly at the waterfront to maximise time on the ground, and pick you up wherever suits you at the end of the day β no retracing your steps to a train station.
Dundee sits at a convenient crossroads in eastern Scotland. Edinburgh is approximately 98 km (61 miles) to the south, making it one of the most popular routes to and from the city. Aberdeen is around 105 km (65 miles) to the north, and Perth is just 35 km (22 miles) to the southwest. Glasgow is roughly 140 km (87 miles) away. These distances make Dundee an easy day trip from several major Scottish cities, with no overnight stay required.
The HMS Unicorn is a 19th-century Royal Navy frigate and one of the six oldest ships still afloat anywhere in the world. She never saw active service β which is precisely why she has survived in such remarkable condition. Berthed on the River Tay not far from the RRS Discovery, she offers a different perspective on Dundee's deep connection to the sea and to shipbuilding. A visit takes roughly an hour and pairs naturally with the Discovery Point attraction nearby, making the two ships a logical pairing within a single afternoon on the Dundee waterfront.
The RRS Discovery is the ship that carried Robert Falcon Scott and Ernest Shackleton on the British National Antarctic Expedition of 1901 β the first dedicated British scientific expedition to Antarctica. After a long and varied working life, she returned to her home city of Dundee and is now berthed near the Tay Bridge as part of the Discovery Point visitor attraction. Visitors can board the ship and explore both the vessel and the wider exhibition covering the expedition. It is consistently rated among the finest heritage attractions in Scotland and is worth setting aside a meaningful chunk of your day for.
Dundee punches well above its weight for a city its size. It was the first city in Britain to earn UNESCO City of Design status, and it shows β the waterfront alone blends cutting-edge architecture, industrial heritage, and genuine history in a way few British cities can match. The V&A Dundee is the only V&A museum outside London and the only dedicated design museum in Britain outside the capital. Nearby, the RRS Discovery β the ship that carried Robert Falcon Scott and Ernest Shackleton on their first Antarctic expedition β sits in permanent dry dock, open to visitors. Add the HMS Unicorn, one of the oldest ships still afloat in the world, and you have a day trip with real substance.
Dundee's main attractions cluster along the waterfront, which makes the city straightforward to navigate on foot once you arrive. The V&A, RRS Discovery, and HMS Unicorn are all within easy walking distance of each other along the Tay waterfront. The city centre and Dundee Contemporary Arts are a short walk inland. The main practical challenge is arrival and departure β train connections require backtracking, and parking in the centre can be limited. A private Daytrip transfer solves both ends of the journey: your driver delivers you directly to the waterfront and collects you at a time and location you choose, so the logistics stay out of your way.
