Put on a hard-hat and smock, and hop into the hoisting cage for a brief 500 meter descent into the mine. The hop in the back of a truck to ride through 20 of the mine’s 4600 kilometers of tunnels. Stop at the world’s largest underground concert hall for an amazing light show, learn about mining operations and blasting, then take a peek at the "goldroom" where the Nazis stored a hundred tons of gold and many works of art. The tour continues to the crystal grotto, with salt crystal formations that can exceed 1 meter, then stop for refreshments at the deepest bar in the world. Even though you’ll be almost 1 kilometer underground, don’t worry about the temperature - thermal activity beneath Germany keeps the mine at a balmy 28C.
