Bustamante
Experience small-town Mexico in this perfect city escape, rich with natural springs, lagoons and festivities.
About
Just north of Monterrey, Bustamante has been termed a âPueblo Magicoâ for its undeniably magical qualities. The most alluring attraction of the town is the âCaùón Ojo de Agua Bustamanteâ, or âEye of Waterâ. This natural spring features crystal clear water, tinged a brilliant blue from the minerals it contains. Enter for around 250 pesos and enjoy a barbeque at one of the facilities. Bustamante is also home to Ojo de Agua El Mezcalito, a stunning blue lagoon, and Cascada El Salto, a gorgeous waterfall. Stick around in the main town for one of the biggest events, Fiesta Patronal, on 12 December. The streets fill with music, dancing, colorful decorations, traditional food stalls and carnival games. Bustamante is also home to the International Festival of Balloons and Kites in August, bringing hot air balloon rides, kite-flying competitions, live music and more to the festive town. Youâll have no problem finding bakeries on every corner selling the famous Bustamante bread to nibble on while you enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.
