Alsatian charm meets fairytale whimsy in Ribeauville, home to timbered homes and castle ruins.
Travelers can start their visit in Ribeauville with a stroll along the Grand Rue, a cobblestone main street lined with pastel houses and artisan shops. From there, head to the Tour des Bouchers and learn more about the village’s fortified past at this 13th-century landmark. While in Ribeauville, it is also worth visiting the Trimbach Winery. As one of Alsace’s oldest winemaking families, the Trimbachs offer exceptional tastings of dry Rieslings and other delicacies. Finally, before departing, consider sampling the town’s famous Flammekueche, a tarte flambee that pairs beautifully with Muscat d’Alsace.

Storybook scenes spring to life in stunning Riquewihr.
Stroll the Rue Du General de Gaulle, the bustling main street decked out with classic winemakers’ signs, wrought-iron details, and traditional Alsatian motifs. Consider trying local specialities such as Kugelhopf, a soft brioche cake topped with raisins and powdered sugar. Then, climb the Dolder Tower, a 13th-century watchtower that now hosts a museum about the village’s history and boasts incredible rooftop views. To round out the day, pop into one of the many caveaux to sample some of the region’s famous Grand Cru wines, such as the iconic Schoenenbourg Riesling.
