Wat Suwan Kuha
Feel free to explore at your own pace and discover
Stop: 1 h 30 min - admission not included

Known by locals simply as ‘the cave temple’, Wat Suwan Khuha combines a beautiful limestone cave with Buddhist imagery. Accessed by an ornately decorated gate, the main entrance is a spacious 40 meter long cave decorated with traditional Thai tiles, several large Buddha statues, and culminating in a beautiful 15 meter long reclining Buddha. Next to the reclining Buddha, a set of stairs leads to a grotto with a golden stupa, while a wide stairway at the end of the cave leads up into the forest, where you’ll get some fantastic views of the jungle. Going to and from the temple, you’re sure to encounter the resident monkeys, who are so used to people that they will take food right out of your hand - there are even stands selling fruit to feed them.

Wat Rat Uppatham
Feel free to explore at your own pace and discover
Stop: 2 hours - admission not included

Perched high on a hilltop, Wat Rat Upatam (known locally as Wat Bang Riang) is an active temple, and still home to a community of monks, who encourage visitors to experience the complex’s breathtaking beauty. Visitors can walk around the temple complex, admiring the intricate carvings covering the facade before stepping inside (leave your shoes at the door) to see the colorful paintings and many gilded shrines and statues. One of the chapels is even built atop a giant boat! The entire complex is watched over by a towering statue of Kwam Im, the Chinese Goddess of Mercy, and a large Golden Buddha backed by a Naga. The 109 meter tall chedi, with its unique bell-shaped pagoda houses relics of the Buddha, and the foundation stone was laid down by the Queen of Thailand herself.

Wat Phra Thong (photo spot)
We’ll stop at this perfect photo spot – take a moment to capture the view!
Stop: 20 min - admission not included

One of the oldest and largest temple complexes on Phuket, Wat Phra Thong was named by King Rama VI when he visited the temple in 1909. According to legend, a boy was plowing a field when he struck a post, got stuck, and mysteriously died. The boy’s father and the men of the village then attempted to remove it, and in trying to dig up the post unearthed a Buddha statue, which they were only able to reveal half of. Over the years, many tried to finish excavating the Buddha, but all mysteriously fell ill, or were attacked by ants and wasps, so the Buddha was left as it was and a temple built around it. Today, the mystical Buddha is fenced off for visitors’ safety. Scattered throughout the temple are several other gold-plated Buddha statues, all well worn by countless Chinese-Thai faithful who flock to the temple.
