Giant's Causeway
As you approach the Giant's Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the sight of over 40,000 interlocking basalt columns rising from the sea is nothing short of mesmerizing. Each stone seems meticulously placed, creating a natural staircase leading into the ocean. The site’s dramatic scenery, combined with the rhythmic crashing of the waves, offers a truly magical experience. According to Irish folklore, the Giant's Causeway was built by the legendary giant Finn McCool to cross the sea to Scotland. This myth adds a layer of enchantment to the already captivating landscape, making it a destination rich in both natural and cultural heritage. The surrounding area of the Causeway Coast boasts scenic walking trails, offering panoramic views of the rugged coastline and the sparkling Atlantic. Visitors can explore the cliffs, hidden coves, and lush green hills that frame this geological wonder. The state-of-the-art visitor center provides insightful exhibitions and guided tours, enriching your understanding of the site's geological significance and mythical stories.

Clonmacnoise
Founded as a simple wooden church by Saint Ciaran in the mid-6th century, Clonmacnoise had established itself as one of the most important monasteries in Ireland by the 9th century. Along with attracting scholars from around Europe, a secular community developed around it, with its craftsmen producing some of the finest metal and stonework seen in Ireland. Just a century later, the community fell into decline, and in 1552 it was finally ruined after having been looted by the English garrison at Athlone. Today, the remains of the Clonmacnoise Cathedral, Temple Doolin, Temple Hurpan, and Temple Melaghlin preserve this rich history with a round tower and picturesque cemetery keeping watch over the ruins. At the on-site Visitor Centre, you can learn more about the fascinating history of Clonmacnoise and marvel at the historic artefacts on display, including the 9th-century Cross of the Scriptures.
