This set-turned-town plays host to an encouraging festival for student filmmakers each year, and offers fairytale whimsy the rest of the year.
关于
This so-called “Wooden Town” lies nestled between two majestic mountains, Tara and Zlatibor. The ethno village was originally built as a set by Emir Kusturica for the movie “Life is a Miracle.” The imaginative little town is visited by major film stars every year during the Kustendorf festival, which is designed to introduce young actors and filmmakers to successful directors. Walking through the town is a whimsical experience heightened by the fairytale-esque architecture and the wooden bird carvings on the upper plateau in the main square. Visitors should be sure to take a ride along the Šargan Eight railway on the antique steam train, Ćira. This route features a unique combination of bridges and tunnels not found anywhere else in the world, and a trip on board furthers the storybook appeal of this small town.
