This hidden watery wonder, the Kilasiya Waterfall, sits in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain, in Marangu village. Tucked away in the depths of the countryside, this waterfall is surrounded by lush rainforest and glorious green landscapes. A simple (but steep!) 20 minute hike past the dense vegetation takes you to the fall, where the glacial water cascades over clusters of rocks at the base to form a natural pool. Along the hike is the chance to see crops of bananas, coffee and beans which are harvested in the region. In the local Chagga Language “Kilasiya” means endless and you can experience the endless beauty of the rainforest as you relax by (or even in!) the crystal clear waters of the Kilasiya Waterfall.
