Regularly appearing high in the lists of ‘Austria’s Top 10 Castles’, this Romantic style castle with its English park and theater ruins makes for a great stop by. Stylish traces of Gothic, Baroque and Biedermeier architecture can be found in the castle tower, the various facades and the elegant staircases. The chapel is a standout feature of the castle with its dazzling blue ceiling and detailed woodcarvings. When the owners designed this castle, they didn’t hold back on the exquisitely detailed features that can be found in every room. After taking a look inside then why not transport yourself back to the seventeenth-century with a stroll through the castle grounds and check out the sculptures and the theater ruin. To return to the present, then a highlight of the grounds is the open-air stage, built in 2007, with its eye-catching contemporary design and which is used to host the renowned annual Grafenegg music festival.
