Located in the middle of the South Island, Castle Hill is an absolutely stunning location. The positioning of the limestone boulders settled within the hills has been said to look like the ruins of an ancient castle, perfect for a king. Marking a huge claim to fame, in 2002 the Dalai Lama claimed that Castle Hill is the “Spiritual Center of the Universe”. Which must have had an impact on the location scouts of the movie, ‘The Chronicles of Narnia; the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe’ as one of the scenes was filmed here, creating a stunning backdrop for an important battle scene.
