Bac Towers
Named after a local rice cake, this historic complex gives visitors a taste of Cham art and architecture.
Sobre
The Bac Towers, also known as the Bahn It Towers, were built around the 12th century by the Champa kingdom. Wars with the Khmer damaged or destroyed some of the complex, and the following several centuries didn’t do the brick buildings any favours. Today, but 4 towers remain, though these are the most impressive and best-preserved Cham towers in the province. The complex is named for the shape of the 22-meter-tall main tower, which is reminiscent of a banh it - a three-cornered glutinous rice cake filled with green bean paste and meat. Each of the towers has a distinctive design, with tasteful decorations on the facade, and splendid bas-reliefs within, making the site an excellent way to sample the Cham Kingdom’s culture.
