Vermosh
The northernmost tip of Albania has beautiful hiking trails, meadows, and villages encapsulated in the amber of time.
About
Vermosh is a hidden alpine paradise within the Kelmend region that offers hikers a nearly untouched mountain experience. It is located 95 kilometers north of Shkoder, the closest major city. This remote village can be accessed via one of Albania's most scenic mountain routes, traversing the dramatic Leqet e Hotit Mountain Pass. It is very windy and takes you about 1,000 meters above sea level into the Albanian Alps (also ominously called the Accursed Mountains). Vermosh is surrounded by breathtaking peaks for those who choose to hike, mountain bike, or go horseback riding. The village is part of a region known for its exceptional hospitality, organic local produce, and traditional mountain culture. September to November is the ideal window for hiking when the landscape transforms into a stunning canvas of alpine colors with crisp mountain air.
