Ujung Water Palace
The manicured gardens and elegant architecture of this royal palace are further enhanced by the surrounding natural landscape.
About
Ujung Water Palace was built at the beginning of the 20th century by King I Gusti Bagus Jelantik. Designed by a Dutch and Chinese duo of architects, the palace blends Eastern and Western styles The eruption of Mt. Agung in 1963, and a major earthquake in 1975 left the palace devastated, but a dedicated restoration project has restored the palace to its former glory. Built between three large pools, the palace’s 10 hectare complex is a delightful combination of natural and man-made beauty, with the carefully manicured landscape garden contrasting with the raw beauty of Mt. Agung, and the Balinese and Western architectural styles working in perfect harmony.
