Luxembourg
A journey to Middle-Earth like no other! Luxembourg’s “Little Switzerland” features mystical waterfalls, enchanting forests, and hiking trails into the hills.
Take a hike to the enchanting Schiessentümpel waterfall, the crown jewel of Luxembourg's "Little Switzerland." This magical spot in the Mullerthal Region features a historic sandstone bridge built in 1879, which has become the area's beloved symbol. Here, the Black Ernz River tumbles over an ancient boulder, splitting into three crystal-clear streams before reuniting below, like it is flowing through the fingers of a giant's hand. After a short hike, you’ll see the scene unfold: a picturesque ravine where sheer rock walls frame the rushing waterfalls. The sandstone bridge's rustic wooden railings and stone arch create an almost fairy-tale atmosphere reminiscent of Middle-Earth. It was built by local stonemason Jean-Pierre Prommenschenkel, and has stood the test of time for over 140 years. The Schiessentümpel Waterfall is easily accessible from the Heringer Millen Tourist Center or nearby parking areas. You can reach this natural wonder via a short walk along the Mullerthal Trail Route 3, making it a perfect stop for hikers of most skill levels.
