Located in the Ashburton Lakes region of New Zealand’s South Island, this once-hidden trail now attracts hikers and movie fans alike. Notable for being the filming site for Edoras, the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Rohan in The Lord of the Ring, this well-marked trail leads across gentle streams and rolling tussock fields, with panoramic views rewarding hikers who reach the summit. Despite its dramatic setting surrounded by the Southern Alps, the hike is more of a walk at only 1.5 km (about an hour to an hour and a half total) and is suitable for all skill levels, although not wheelchair accessible. Walking shoes are recommended. No traces of the film set remain, allowing nature to reclaim the landscape, but the magic of the location is undeniable. Whether you're here for the cinematic history or the stunning scenery, Mount Sunday Track is an unforgettable adventure into New Zealand’s wild beauty.

Depending where you travel, you can book anything from a sedan comparable to a Toyota Corolla to a Mercedes V-Class to a Classic Cuban Car. You may be upgraded to a larger vehicle class free of charge depending on availability. Since our largest vehicle seats 7, for groups larger a combination of vehicles will be used.
