Lillafured became an attractive tourist destination in the 1930s and a center for those seeking healing and relaxation. Today, the pre-war ambience of Lillafured Palace has been retained and sits comfortably in the twenty-first century in one of Hungary’s most beautiful locations. The pleasant walks around the palace in the hanging gardens make for a peaceful and memorable experience of the beauty of nature. Close by in Miskolc is the Cave Bath of Miskolctapolca, a “lake bath” channeled by water out of hard bath stone over thousands of years. It is a unique experience to swim in passages thousands of years old surrounded by nature in water known for its recuperative powers. The network stretches over three miles while the basins inside and outside the cave enable visitors to relax and enjoy the sounds, fragrances and the unique atmosphere of the only bath cave of this type in Europe.
