South Africa
This nature reserve was established to preserve South Africa’s iconic aloe tree and other succulents.
The Kokerboom Nursery was established to save the millions of Aloe trees and other succulents that would have been killed during the construction of the highway heading to Namibia. Along with being given permission to relocate and sell these indigenous plants, the nursery was named a nature reserve for its important work in preserving South Africa’s iconic flora. The nursery offers visitors the perfect opportunity to admire the ‘quiver trees’ and countless other succulents, learn more about them thanks to the knowledgeable staff, and of course, buy some to take home (make sure you know customs policies beforehand).
