The Hovs Hallar nature reserve is one of the best places for hiking in Skåne thanks to its varied natural landscapes. Walking along the Skåneleden Trail, you’ll pass woodlands and meadows, cliffs and rocky beaches, and see the fossilized shores of the prehistoric Litorine Sea. While a beautiful attraction in its own right, Hovs Hallar is known around the world for its appearance in the opening scenes of The Seventh Seal, where the Knight challenges Death to a game of chess for his life on the shoreline. This iconic scene earned the beach recognition as one of the Treasures of European Film Culture.
