Sobre
McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park sits atop a giant underground reservoir that was created by volcanic activity millions of years ago. The black volcanic basalt has since been covered with a lush evergreen forest, with the surrounding soaring peaks standing as a reminder of the area's more explosive past. Named after two families of early settlers, the park has 5 miles of beautiful hiking trails to explore. That underground reservoir we mentioned earlier is the source of the park's crown jewel: the 129-foot Burney Falls. Along with Burney Stream pouring over the edge, water flows out of the face of the 250-foot-wide cliff. This strange phenomenon, and the mist-filled basin has earned it a reputation as one of the most beautiful falls in California.
