Head underground to the Punkva Caves, a subterranean natural wonder with boat rides beneath spikey stalactites.
The Punkva Caves are in the Canyon of Pusty Zleb and are among the best of the Czech Republic's cave systems. These caves were discovered progressively between 1909 and 1933 by scientists and today they’re open to the public for tours. The journey begins with a walking tour through magnificent chambers with stalactite and stalagmite formations, leading to the base of the Macocha Abyss. This staggering 456-foot-deep (139 m) chasm spans 570 x 250 feet (174 x 76 m). The adventure continues with a boat ride along the underground Punkva River, featuring the spectacular Masaryk's Dome, considered among Moravian Karst's most beautiful caverns. Please note that the guided tour is only in the Czech language, but that the informational cards are available in other languages.
