Bosnia and Herzegovina
This village, right on the Croatian-Bosnian border, is best known for its hiking trails, waterfalls, and monastery on the Una River, right next to Una National Park.
Martin Brod is a small village that mostly caters to hikers and campers along the Una River. This river partially marks the Croatian border with Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Martin Brod is mere meters from Croatia. There are hiking trails, campsites, picnic areas, and waterfalls, all within the village limits. The Great Una Waterfalls are the biggest attraction, as water cascades down 177 feet (54 meters) of cliffside along many hiking trails, such as the Kanjon Unca, Martina Staza, and Kanjon Une hiking areas. These trails are easily accessible and are a beautiful way to get closer to Bosnian nature. After you’ve admired all the nature, stop by the Manastir Rmanj or the Rmanj Monastery. It is nearly 600 years old and was recently renovated in 2024 for a new generation of devoted Orthodox Christians in the area.
