Between the North Sea beaches and Holland’s largest contiguous bulb fields, Callantsoog is a springtime dream. From mid-April to May, the landscape erupts in stripes of tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils. They are best explored by cycling or walking the scenic 10-km coastal route. The annual Bloeiend Zijpe festival amps up the charm with photo workshops, art displays, and vintage train rides through the fields of blooms. Unlike busier tulip destinations, Callantsoog offers tranquil beauty. Stroll past fragrant fields, then unwind in the quaint village or on the wide sandy beaches. For an adventure, rent a bike to pedal the "Flower Bulb Route" stretching from Alkmaar to Den Helder, or join locals at cozy beach cafés. Don’t miss the rescue zoo Dierenpark Hoenderdaell nearby, home to lions and bears.
